Vermont Yogis in action - Kathryn Blume
Kathryn Blume is one of Burlington's treasures. Her passion for activism and ability to translate it into her art with skill, wit, love, laughter and strength is truly an inspirational gift. Many of you might remember her from her landmark action, the Lysistrata Project, a worldwide theatrical act of dissent. (If you don't remember, visit Lysistrataproject.com.)
In January of 2007, Vermont Stage Company premiered The Boycott , a new solo theatrical work. "It's my latest attempt to save the world," said Blume, whose previous theatrical undertaking, The Accidental Activist, chronicled her efforts to stop the war in Iraq. "There is no more pressing issue facing the world today than global warming, and this piece is my way of trying to make a difference."
The Boycott is making its second run in Burlington in July before embarking on a six week run in New York City in the fall. Performances will be held at FlynnSpace, 153 Main Street, Burlington, July 26, 27 and 28 at 8 pm. Tickets are $26 and are available purchased online. A portion of the proceeds from each show will benefit the Vermont Forum on Sprawl.
